Quick Vein Treatment (Sclerotherapy) for Las Vegas and St. George
Spider veins and varicose veins appear in many places on the body as people age. They are perhaps most common on the thighs, calves, and ankles, but wherever they appear they create an eyesore. Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive vein treatment available to St. George and Las Vegas-area residents from Dr. Robert Rhodes. Using a simple injection, Dr. Rhodes can effectively diminish the appearance of spider and varicose veins, leaving the affected area smoother than it was before treatment. Is sclerotherapy right for me?
As a minimally invasive vein treatment, sclerotherapy is a safe and effective solution to spider and varicose veins that is appropriate for the vast majority of patients. It shares this advantage with other non-surgical options, such as facial rejuvenation treatments and laser skin care. However, certain individuals should not have sclerotherapy injections:
- Smokers: Because of tobacco's effect on the circulatory system, it is a good idea to quit smoking before undergoing vein treatment. Smokers can undergo the procedure, but they typically experience more side effects and see less impressive results than non-smokers.
- Pregnant or Breastfeeding Women: The effect of sclerotherapy injections on fetuses and newborns is not well known. Thus, women should wait until they are no longer pregnant or breastfeeding before receiving treatment.
- Individuals with certain medical conditions: People who suffer from blood-borne illnesses and certain circulatory conditions are not good candidates for this form of vein treatment.
If you are interested in sclerotherapy, Dr. Rhodes can help you determine whether this vein treatment is a good option. All of his sclerotherapy patients from Las Vegas, St. George, and elsewhere enjoy comprehensive pre- and post-treatment care, including a detailed evaluation to ensure that the procedure is absolutely safe for them.

Vein Treatment, Recovery, and Results
The sclerotherapy treatment process is simple: Dr. Rhodes carefully injects a vein treatment solution into the targeted veins using a precision micro-needle. Over time the veins collapse, fading from view. The entire treatment process generally takes less than an hour. In many cases, patients need multiple treatments to achieve optimal results.
After vein treatment, it is common for Dr. Rhodes' patients to experience some bruising and swelling. These side effects typically last no longer than two weeks. Until they fade, it is a good idea for patients to wear compression bandages and support hose, which will speed the healing process.
Sclerotherapy does not prevent the formation of new spider and varicose veins, and thus should not be considered a permanent vein treatment. Nonetheless, most patients from Las Vegas and surrounding areas who choose to undergo sclerotherapy at Dr. Rhodes's practice in St. George are very happy with the results they see.
