Brow Lift and Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery) for Las Vegas and St. George

The face is the first thing that most people notice when they meet a person, so facial aesthetic flaws are common sources of concern and insecurity.  Fortunately, Dr. Robert Rhodes offers a selection of plastic surgery treatments, such as brow lift and blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), to help Las Vegas and St. George-area cosmetic surgery patients address the cosmetic imperfections that concern them. As with all of his surgical procedures, Dr. Rhodes provides comprehensive, personalized care to patients throughout the treatment process. Please feel free to view Dr. Rhodes' plastic surgery before-and-after pictures to develop a better idea of what can be achieved with cosmetic surgery.

Brow Lift

Brow lift is a solution for wrinkles in the forehead, hooded brows, and stubborn frown lines that give the appearance of age and worry. It is a good option for patients who want a more thorough or permanent treatment than BOTOX® Cosmetic or laser skin resurfacing can offer but do not require a full facelift.

The brow lift procedure itself is similar to facelift surgery. Treating patients from Las Vegas and surrounding communities in St. George, Utah, Dr. Rhodes makes an incision along the forehead, concealed behind the hairline. Through the incision, he tightens facial muscles and removes excess skin to give the face a more youthful contour. Finally, he stretches and repositions the facial skin to lift the brow line and eliminate the deep horizontal wrinkles that often appear over time in the skin of the forehead.

Brow lift surgery is popular with Dr. Rhodes' Las Vegas-area patients because it is less invasive than facelift surgery, with a shorter recovery time. This makes it ideal for patients who are concerned with the appearance of the brow and forehead only, rather than the entire face. Most patients are able to return to work about one week after surgery. Stitches are usually removed after two weeks. Within a few weeks, most visible signs of brow lift surgery, including the majority of  bruising and swelling, will be gone. The full benefits of the surgery sometimes take up to a month to become visible.

Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)

Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is a treatment for sagging eyelids. Eye bags, as they are often called, give an impression of fatigue and age. By removing the fatty tissue and skin that create them, Dr. Rhodes is able to give his eyelid surgery patients a more rested, youthful appearance. In extreme cases, drooping eyelids may also block peripheral vision, making blepharoplasty important for safety. Eyelid surgery is also popular with Las Vegas and St. George-area patients as a complement to brow lift surgery.

Dr. Rhodes operates on blepharoplasty patients through incisions in the creases of the eyelid in order to hide visible signs of surgery. He trims away extra skin, removes fatty tissue that tends to build up in the lower eyelid, and repositions the muscles to produce a tighter, smoother appearance before closing incisions to complete the blepharoplasty procedure.

Immediately after eyelid surgery, Dr. Rhodes' patients from St. George, Las Vegas, and elsewhere should be prepared for some swelling and soreness. Many people experience excessive tear production and temporary blurred vision, and some also report an increased sensitivity to light. Recovering patients will need to wear sunglasses to protect the eyes and use eye drops and a specially prescribed lotion to keep the eyes and incisions lubricated.

Dr. Rhodes usually removes blepharoplasty stitches about one week after surgery, and patients can return to work after 10 days. Early bruising and swelling fade steadily over the following weeks.

Neck Lift

Symptoms of aging, such as loose skin and wrinkles, commonly develop on the neck as well as the face itself. Facelift and other facial procedures do not specifically address the neck skin, making a separate neck lift procedure appropriate for many cosmetic surgery patients.

Through incisions hidden beneath the chin and behind the ears, Dr. Rhodes lifts and tightens the skin and muscles of the neck to eliminate folds of sagging skin. The neck lift procedure restores a more defined, graceful contour to the patient's neck. Most neck lift patients can return to normal daily activities within two weeks of surgery.

Otoplasty (Ear Surgery)

Oversized, misshapen, or protruding ears can be easily corrected through surgery. Most ear surgery patients are children whose parents are concerned about teasing at school, but many adults also choose to have their ears altered.

By removing and/or reshaping the ear's cartilage as needed, Dr. Rhodes can alter the size, shape, and projection of the ears to make them fit the head and face. Adult otoplasty patients are typically able to return to work within a few days of surgery; children need to spend about a week at home recovering. The results of surgery are immediately visible, but full healing sometimes takes several weeks.

Lip Augmentation

Fuller, more sensuous lips are a goal for many people. Lip implants make it possible to realize that goal. By inserting precisely shaped artificial implants through incisions at the corners of the mouth, Dr. Rhodes can permanently augment the lips.

Lip implant patients typically experience some tenderness and swelling for a few weeks after surgery. Patients who prefer an alternative to synthetic implants often choose a fat transplant instead.

Facial Implants

Having well proportioned facial features that fit well together is a major part of being beautiful. Clearly defined cheekbones and a strong chin typically fit better with the nose, the mouth, and the rest of the face. Many people choose to combine facial implants with rhinoplasty or another facial procedure. Cheek implants are also popular with patients who are concerned that their cheeks have grown hollow with age.

Facial implants are typically placed through incisions inside the mouth. This approach avoids visible scarring anywhere on the face. Most patients are able to return to their normal activities within two weeks, but full recovery sometimes takes a few weeks longer. It is important to follow Dr. Rhodes' directions closely after surgery in order to keep incisions inside the mouth clean and avoid unnecessary complications.
